2024 Exhibition

After two days of visitors enjoying looking at and discussing a wide selection of quilts, then taking the opportunity to sit and chat over a cup of tea, or coffee, and enjoy a delicious home-made cake, another successful Exhibition came to a close. It was refreshing to note that 14 visitors had indicated they were interested in joining the group.

Challenges had been judged and the winner of the Visitors’ Choice was a beautiful quilt made by Maureen Bilbao who received a gift voucher for £50 from the sponsors Doughty Bros Ltd of Hereford. The A4 challenge was won by Val Hicks for her cheerful Robin and she received a £15 voucher from the sponsor Bettie Freckles of Leominster.

Time now to start sewing ready for the next exhibition in two years.

If you didn’t manage to visit the Exhibition you can enjoy below, a selection of quilts that were on display.

Apologies to any that I have missed.

Set up Day, ready for the 2024 Quilt Exhibition. Lots of people on hand busy as bees. Thanks to Marion and Chris for providing a much appreciated lunch to keep us all going.

This year we celebrate 35 years of friendship through quilting, and hope you will come and see what we have been working on! Hopefully you would like to see some of your own work on display too, so do join us in our mini quilt (A4) challenge. This competition is open to everyone, and the quilts will be hung at our exhibition, and there will be Visitors’ Choice and Judges’ Choice prizes.

The theme this year is ‘Creation’ , so plenty to choose from.

The rules are simple: A4 size, portrait or landscape, composed of 3 layers, using any technique. It must have a 2″ sleeve on the back and have a label with your contact details.

The quilts must be with us by Tuesday 27th August. They can be given to any member of Leominster Quilters, and must be collected by the end of the exhibition.

As well as lots of quilts and other textile arts to admire, there will be refreshments to enjoy, including delicious homemade cakes and other goodies. There will be sales tables with plenty of books and sewing paraphernalia, traders, a fabulous raffle and a tombola. What a great day out!

And if you would like to make a day (or longer!) of your visit, there are lots of local attractions to tempt you. Amongst them are:

Hampton Court Castle and gardens

Chase Distillery

Queenswood Arboretum and Bodenham Lake
