27 members were pleased to welcome Sue Fry who, together with her husband, came along to tell us all about Remade Worcester. Sue explained that following the closure of Worcestershire Resource Exchange five local members recognised the need for a scrap store in Worcester so they took action and in 2022 Remade Worcester was born. Volunteer run the aim was to prevent materials being sent to land fill.
In September 2023 they found a home at the Crowngate Centre in Worcester where they work closely with local businesses and contributions from the public. With help from 19 volunteers they sort and bundle a variety of mostly fabric items, which can be used for arts and crafts etc., thus enabling them to achieve their aim of preventing the materials from being sent to land fill. The fabric is also available at low cost to the public, community groups and charities. They run Workshops and offer training to develop skills in crafting and up cycling.
After the talk members took the opportunity to look at the items Sue had brought along and several purchases were made.
