17 July Sit and Sew

Nineteen members spending a pleasant evening sitting, sewing and chatting with each other.

During the evening Adele said 28-29 people had booked to go on the coach to the Festival of Quilts at the NEC. There was a deficit of £36.54 which would be met by Leominster Quilters.

Members were asked to indicate on the forms being circulated if they would help at Leominster Quilters’ Exhibition to be held at the end of August.

Proceeds from the sale of Raffle tickets would be donated to the Leominster Dementia Group Charity and thanks went to Clare for attending the meeting and giving a very interesting, and sometimes amusing, insight into the work the Charity carried out. (A copy of a Leaflet giving more information about the Charity is available a under Notices).

Maureen had brought along her finished Mystery quilt for members to see. She said most of the quilting had been done with a walking foot and stencils plus a little free motion quilting.

Several members who had taken part in the challenge had brought their quilt to show the group and it was interesting to see the varied colour combinations the challenge had produced. Most members had followed the instructions given, but it was interesting to see how some had followed their own instincts and altered the pattern and layout. It was hoped that all members who had taken part in the challenge would have their quilt ready to display at the exhibition.

Several members took a supply of Flyers advertising the forthcoming Exhibition to distribute throughout the area.

7th June 2023 – Spring social

Deborah Jarman kindly hosted our spring social at her home in Great Wacton, Bredenbury. It was a “bring and share” event with members providing lots of lovely savoury and sweet items of food to share. It was a pleasant evening so we were able to sit outside to chat and eat until it cooled down and we moved inside for tea/coffee. Thank you to Deborah for hosting the event.

Summer Social – 3rd August 2022

We held our first summer social evening on Wednesday which turned out to be very enjoyable, something we hope to do again in future years.

It was well attended with 5 teams taking part in a fairly informal quiz (provided by Carol) to identify coastal towns. This was accompanied with a lot of chatter and eating a very enjoyable bring and share feast.

We also had a guess the baby competition where members brought photos of themselves as babies. Only 5 people managed to guess babies that weren’t themselves. We’ve  all changed a lot over the years.

Unfortunately 2 babies were abandoned at the end of the evening, let’s hope they get re-united with their owners.
