Edwina gave a us a wonderful talk about a very varied selection of her quilts. It was interesting to hear how her colour choices were made, and I love her enthusiasm for being unpredictable. Be open to the unexpected when working on a project, go with the flow, change direction if it feels right.
I hope everyone who visited on the first day had as an enjoyable time as I did. I always come away wishing I was going back tomorrow, maybe next year! So much to see, not enough time or energy to keep going all day!
There were lots of happy but weary faces on the coach coming home.
Congratulations to Liz Jones (Hothouse Hybrids) for her Second Place in the Contemporary Quilt section. It was lovely to see Alyson’s quilt in the Two Person section too.

On a lovely warm summers evening, Jane shared her enthusiasm for English textiles and costume with her talk ‘A History of Traditional Smocking’.
Smocks, or smock frocks were made by women for their menfolk as working garments.

Liz gave us a wonderful talk ‘Contemporary Stitched Textlies’ showcasing inspirations and adventures from her City and Guilds days to the present day.
As each quilt was shown and explained there were excited wow’s from the audience. Tea and coffee was served late!
Leominster Quilters
