Guest Workshops

15 July White Gecko workshop

Whilst our guests from White Gecko set up their fabric stall members started arriving and began organising their workstations ready to start the Spiral Bargello Table Runner Workshop.

The workshop started with Sarah explaining how members should prepare their fabric and how to prevent their seams curving into a banana shape.  With the strips joined together Sarah demonstrated how to use the template provided to complete the next stage.  When everyone had cut their strips she showed the offset layout required to make two identical blocks, which joined together would form the Spiral Bargello Table Runner top that needed to be sandwiched, quilted and the binding added.  As the afternoon drew to a close, it was interesting to see what stage everyone had reached so that the table runner could be completed at home. The ladies from white Gecko were thanked for a very interesting and enjoyable workshop and it was hoped they could return for another workshop at a later date.

Mini Workshops

1 July Sit and Sew

Sunbonnet Sue Mini Workshop

Following notices and an exchange of opinions regarding catering for the forthcoming exhibition Sue Kneale showed members how to make a Sunbonnet Sue needle case.  She had kindly brought along a wide selection of felt and embellishments from which members were able to choose items to enhance their work.  It was interesting to see how industrious members approached the subject whilst Sue moved round the room giving advice and encouragement.  Thanks go to Sue for a very enjoyable evening.  Thanks also go to the ladies who worked in the kitchen and provided refreshments.
